The AEU ACT Branch invites women members to submit a brief (100 word approx.) expression of interest to join our delegation attending the New South Wales Teachers Federation Women’s Conference to be held in Sydney.
When: Saturday 17th May 2014, 9.00am – 4.30pm (we'll travel up Friday afternoon and back down Sunday morning)
Where: Federation Auditorium, 37 Resevoir St, Surry Hills
Workshops: Women working longer- What are the challenges? Women working together to create inclusive schools. Empowering women with the confidence to say NO.
Panel Discussion: Rita Millie (CFMEU NSW President) Emma Maiden (Unions NSW Assistant Secretary) and Mary Yeager (Unions NSW Executive Officer) .
Accommodation is provided for 2 nights ( Friday 16th May, Saturday 17th May) which will be fully subsidised by the AEU and our generous sponsors, Teachers Credit Union. There is an optional dinner on the Saturday night, the cost of which is to be met by attendees.
AEU ACT Women's Officer, Sue Amundsen, will be taking our contingent to the conference. We'll drive up on the Friday afternoon and back on the Sunday. If you would prefer, you can make your own way to the conference.
This is a wonderful opportunity to get more involved in the AEU, hear inspiring speakers, attend worthwhile workshops and meet and interact with other like-minded women. Please submit a brief (100 words approximately) expression of interest which focuses on how you are actively involved in the union, how you will benefit from attendance at the conference and how you would like to be involved in the AEU in the future. Nominations will be considered by Branch Executive on the evening of Tuesday 29th April and all nominees will be contacted regarding the outcome on Wednesday 30th April.
