Resolving workplace disputes

Our enterprise agreement outlines what we can do to resolve disputes in our workplaces.

A section in our enterprise agreeement (Section G2, page 49) sets out the process for resolving disputes that occur in our workplaces. A number of important points should be noted:

  • The dispute settlment procedure applies very broadly. It covers disputes about interpretation and implementation of the enterprise agreement but also more broadly 'matters arising in the workplace'.
  • If you have a dispute in your workplace, you can be represented by a leader in your sub-branch or staff in the AEU office: "An employee who is party to a dispute may appoint a representative, which may be a relevant union...".
  • If, after various steps, the dispute is not resolved, it can be referred to Fair Work Australia for them to either concilate or arbitrate the matter.
