The Bill Book Program
The Bill Book program is an exciting opportunity for an AEU member to spend a week in the AEU ACT office in Barton.
The Bill Book Program gives you the chance to see what it's like inside the AEU office. The program is named after much-loved and now retired AEU organiser, Bill Book. It is like the Anna Stewart program in that it provides an opportunity for a member to spend a week inside the office. It is open to all members, men and women, to apply.
We invite applications from members who are interested in doing the program from October 27 - 31 (Term 4, Week 3).
Please complete and return this Expression of Interest form by cob Wednesday September 17.
The Bill Book Program seeks to give AEU members a better understanding of the structure and operation of the AEU. Bill Book Officers are encouraged to pursue a range of activities over the period of one week, which could include:
- shadowing union officers in their day to day work
- assisting with union activities, campaigns and policy development
- attending meetings with ETD
- attending school/sub-branch/Executive/Council/Unions ACT meetings
- writing journal articles
- researching issues of concern to women
- conducting a project that would benefit women
Will you be paid?
Yes! Our Enterprise Agreements enable AEU members to access up to 15 days Industrial Leave per year to engage in AEU training. If you are permanent, permanent part time or working in a temporary position then the Education & Training Directorate or TAFE will continue to pay you and the AEU will pay the costs of casual relief. If you are working as a day-to-day casual relief teacher then the AEU will pay for any work that you were booked to do but were unable to take up due to your participation in this program.
Please contact Andy on 6272 7900 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Expressions of Interest close Wednesday 17 September 2014.
