Why consult?

We often hear members say that our union is not tough enough and that we speak to the Education Directorate about disputes rather than fighting first. Our Union and all unions are required to attempt to resolve the dispute with the Employer first.

Both our Enterprise agreement and the Fair Work Commission require our union to take a dispute to the Employer before filing in the Fair Work Commission. G 2 of the ACT PUBLIC SECTOR EDUCATION AND TRAINING DIRECTORATE (TEACHING STAFF) ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2014 to 2018 sets out the process.
