Branch Secretary announcement

I am delighted to advise you that Mr Patrick Judge has been elected unopposed to the position of AEU ACT Branch Secretary.

This declaration was made on 18 November 2021 by the Australian Electoral Commission.  In accordance with Federal AEU Rule 30A – Conduct of Federal and Branch Elections, Patrick takes up office immediately on the declaration of the election.

Patrick is a highly accomplished and experienced industrial specialist and union organiser.  He holds qualifications in law and education and has practiced law and been a registered teacher both prior to and during his time working in the AEU office.  Patrick leads high level negotiations of complex industrial matters, including the issuing of disputes.  He has conducted all enterprise bargaining activities for the Branch.  This includes the current claims for CIT and School Assistant bargaining and developing the claims for the upcoming teaching staff enterprise bargaining activities.

Many members will be familiar with Patrick’s clear and considered appearances on television, radio and in newsprint this year.  Patrick also represents the AEU on numerous committees, including TQI, the EDU/AEU Teacher Shortage Taskforce and as a statutory appointee to the Public Sector Workers Compensation Fund Advisory Committee and an acting member of the Work Safety Council.

I also extend my sincere gratitude and heartfelt thanks to AEU Lead Organiser Vince McDevitt who since March 2021 has also served as acting Branch Secretary.

Comrades, we are in good hands.
