"When someone asks me to do something, my default position is to say yes". (Annabel Crabb - Chat 10 Looks 3)
Are you like Annabel? Do you find it hard to say "No" when you're asked to do that little bit extra at work? This workshop is designed to uncover why it is that women can find it especially difficult to refuse an "ask". Participants will learn about the societal, psychological and emotional causes of the problem. But more importantly, you will learn and practice strategies that can increase your confidence in both the workplace and at home to Just Say No!
The workshop will be facilitated by Joy Coates, AEU Federal 2018/19 Rosemary Richards Scholarship winner. Joy's scholarship work was based around female-dominated workplaces that reinforce and amplify traditional "female" modes of engaging with others, creating a culture that makes it hard to refuse requests. Joy has been a teacher for 25 years and lives in Tasmania.
This is a special one-day event for our Women's Network, and members are entitled to take paid industrial leave to attend.
The event is fully catered, so please RSVP and do let us know if you have any dietary requirements. Don't miss out - RSVP now!
