SUMMARY:Stop Work Action
DESCRIPTION:AEU members will be stopping work for two hours from 8:30am to 10:30am on Friday 22 May\, 2026. \nWe are doing this because we’re standing up for public education.  \nAEU members have been papering over the cracks in an under-resourced system for too long. We don’t have enough teachers or school psychologists in the public school system. We don’t have enough funding to do everything that would help our students. We don’t have enough time to get everything done. \nIn July 2025\, we put forward realistic and reasonable claims. The ACT Government has not responded meaningfully to our claims. \nOur working conditions are our students’ learning conditions. \nWe are taking this action to show the ACT Government that we won’t be ignored.  \nWhile we stop work\, AEU members will meet at Ainslie Football Club\, 52 Wakefield Avenue\, Ainslie. \nWe want as many members as possible to come along. Let’s show the government that AEU members are serious about fixing our public education system. \nThere is plenty of parking but why not build solidarity by car-pooling. Please arrive from 8:30am to allow time to sign-in to the club. You must bring ID with you for signing in.
