The AEU ACT Branch is seeking a Communications Officer for a 12-month full-time contract with potential to become permanent, starting at the ASO6-equivalent level ($102,657 to $116,592 + superannuation). Applications close on 26 February 2026.
About the role
You’ll help amplify the voice of over 4,300 ACT educators by creating compelling communications that drive our campaigns and engage our members.
What you’ll do
Communications & Content
- Develop content for website, social media, newsletters, and print materials
- Write media releases and support media relations
- Translate complex policy and research into accessible member communications
- Maintain consistent branding across platforms
Campaigns & Member Engagement
- Coordinate industrial and professional campaigns with national AEU initiatives
- Create campaign materials including digital and print resources
- Develop targeted communications for different member groups (early childhood, primary, secondary, TAFE)
- Support workplace representative networks
Digital & Events
- Manage website content and create engaging digital materials
- Help coordinate and promote union events
- Build relationships with education stakeholders and community organisations
Administration
- Maintain communication records and prepare reports for AEU ACT Branch Executive and Branch Council meetings
- Ensure compliance with privacy and industrial relations requirements
