History Teachers Association Scholarship

For the last couple of years, the ACT History Teachers’ Association has offered scholarships to early career educators (first 5 years of teaching) to attend the History Teachers of Australia’s National Conference. This year the HTA will be offering two scholarships.

This scholarship is named in honour of our late esteemed colleague, Hilary Brettell. Hilary was a dedicated History teacher within the ACT for many years, mentoring many early career educations and an active member of the ACT HTA.

The ACT HTA, in partnership with the National Archives of Australia, will provide the following to successful applicants:

  • Registration to the conference, including the conference’s dinner
  • Individual Association Membership until the end of 2025
  • National Archives of Australia Membership for 12 months

This year’s National Conference will be held in Sydney from the 3-4 October, 2024. The 2024 focus is ‘The Unending Dialogue’.

Recipients of the scholarship are expected to engage with and support the ACT HTA in 2025. This support could be through presenting at professional learning events, supporting the committee in organising events, supporting the judging and organisation of competitions, or representing the ACT HTA at events promoting history education and the association.

This year the scholarship application will close on 1st of July, 2024.

Applications can be submitted through the following Google Form: https://forms.gle/AZZmoAJY83VbV9Gz7
