Join women and gender diverse educators from across Australia for this significant annual federal conference. The 2025 conference theme is ‘Safe, Respected and Equal’ and supports the continued focus on gendered violence as a societal and systemic issue.
Safe: The conference will launch the Monash University and AEU Co-Design Survey and align with our campaign highlighting chronic underfunding of capital works in public education.
Respected: Sessions will focus on possibility, strength, and empowerment-based conversations that reinforce respect for women in education.
Equal: Women will lead the charge for workplace equality, particularly around securing reproductive health leave for all through the ‘It’s For Everybody’ campaign and exploring how AEU Branches can support and adopt this campaign.
The conference will feature compelling keynote speakers, expert panel discussions, and participatory workshops to support learning, skill-building, knowledge-sharing, and union power. The conference will provide a space for women and gender divers teachers and educators from across the country to collaborate and apply organising strategies to win ‘Safe, Respected and Equal’ workplaces.
There will be a series of workshops that will consider and focus on:
• Women’s Rights At Wowk (WRAW) chats to build power locally using small groups.
• Assertive conversations, focused on the topic of gendered violence with focus of inclusive responsibility across education and training sectors to win change.
• Reproductive Health Leave conversations to destigmatise, normalise and support the promotion of the It’s For Every Body campaign across the education and training sectors, with the goal of securing improved conditions and entitlements.
This is an unmissable opportunity to connect with educators nationwide, shape policy, and advance gender equity in education. If you have any questions or would like more information, please email Katie Slater or phone 6272 7900.
