2025 Friend of Public Education Award

Friend of Public Education

This AEU award recognises that supporters of public education are everywhere. This award recognises a champion of public education from outside the AEU membership.

Congratulations to the School Volunteers Program, Curtin Primary School, winner of the AEU Friend of Public Education.

Mary Martin and Patrick Jones from the School Volunteer Program collected the award from Minister Yvette Berry.

The School Volunteers Program is an important partnership that enables community participation in school life at Curtin Primary. Members of the Volunteers Program are highly regarded and valued by staff, families and students. Many of the volunteers have become an integral part of the fabric of Curtin Primary School through their work supporting children with their reading development. Children look forward to their special person coming to their classroom, greeting them with a smile and spending valuable time reading for enjoyment. The volunteers make a significant difference, not only to the children’s reading development, but also to their wellbeing.
